Groupe International d’Etudes sur les Femmes et la Famille dans la Rome Antique
Ce réseau, en un premier temps informel, a pour objet de regrouper des romanistes spécialistes de diverses disciplines techniques (épigraphistes, juristes, papyrologues, numismates, archéologues, historiens de l’art, philologues) pour travailler à des approches documentaires sur les femmes et la famille dans le monde romain (de l’époque républicaine à l’Antiquité tardive, Italie et Provinces).
C’est en effet par le biais de la connaissance technique de certains types de sources, moins exploitées, que l’on peut renouveler l’état de la question sur la famille romaine, les enjeux politiques et sociaux de la parenté, la place des femmes en histoire politique, dynastique, juridique, familiale, religieuse, sociale. Un groupe de spécialistes dotés de compétences techniques permet, dans le cadre de projets collectifs monographiques ou thématiques, la constitution de dossiers documentaires variés: certains projets permettront, à large échelle, des dépouillements ou des enquêtes géographiques (Ville de Rome, Italie, provinces latinophones, provinces hellénophones), tandis que des approches thématiques autoriseront des mises au point solidement adossées à des états documentaires mis à jour.
Ce sont là autant de raisons pour lesquelles ce groupe veut réunir en réseau à la fois des spécialistes des femmes et/ou de la famille dans le monde romain et des spécialistes de domaines techniques nécessaires à une approche pertinente de l’histoire des femmes et de la famille, en plaçant le document au cœur de travaux collectifs.

Le recours aux disciplines techniques, par le biais de dépouillements documentaire, pourra, le cas échéant, déboucher sur des projets collectifs de prosopographie, de recueils thématiques, de bases de données en ligne. Certains de ces projets existent déjà et contribuent à enrichir le groupe GIEFFRA.
But :
La mise en réseau d’un groupe de romanistes devrait permettre aisément d’échanger des informations (grâce à un site web actuellement en cours de constitution), d’élaborer ultérieurement des projets qui pourraient être mis en commun et de faire converger des efforts de recherche communes sur l’histoire des femmes et de la famille dans le monde romain, en tenant compte de la spécificité de cette histoire qu’il convient de replacer dans l’originalité de la romanité, de ses traditions juridiques, religieuses et sociales – le tout en s’appuyant sur des documents.
Comité de pilotage :
Les quatre promoteurs de ce groupe spécifiquement romaniste, Francesca Cenerini (Bologne), François Chausson (Paris-1), Isabelle Cogitore (Grenoble), Francesca Rohr (Venise), vont appuyer leur projet par une série d’infrastructures dans leurs universités respectives (accueil du site web) et de financements, en parallèle avec d’autres projets.
Objectifs prochains :
Le groupe a programmé, à partir de l’année 2014, une série de rencontres internationales dont la publicité sera diffusée prochainement. Parmi les thèmes qui seront abordés dans de prochaines rencontres, figurent «les femmes de l’ordre sénatorial, époque républicaine/époque impériale», «l’onomastique féminine dans l’Empire romain», «femmes et religion dans le monde romain», «famille et religion dans le monde romain». Une première table-ronde aura lieu en janvier 2014 à Grenoble sur «les femmes d’influence à Rome, de la fin de la République aux Sévères».
Un site web, localisé à Venise, en cours de réalisation, permettra de collecter bibliographie et actualité d’évènements, rassemblant ainsi une documentation de consultation aisée sur les femmes et la famille dans le monde romain.

Gruppo internazionale di studi sulle donne e sulla famiglia nella Roma antica
Questa rete, in un primo momento informale, ha lo scopo di riunire degli studiosi del mondo romano specialisti in diverse discipline tecniche (epigrafisti, giuristi, papirologi, numismatici, archeologi, storici dell’arte, filologi), per lavorare con un approccio documentario sulle donne e sulla famiglia nel mondo romano (dal periodo repubblicano alla tarda antichità, in Italia e nelle Province).
In effetti, è attraverso il percorso delle conoscenze tecniche di alcuni tipi di fonti, meno sfruttate, che si può rinnovare lo stato della questione sulla famiglia romana, sui legami politici e sociali della parentela, sul collocamento della donna nella storia politica, dinastica, giuridica, familiare, religiosa, sociale. Un gruppo di specialisti forniti di competenze tecniche consente, nell’ambito di progetti collettivi monografici o tematici, la formazione di dossier documentari diversi: alcuni progetti permetteranno su vasta scala gli spogli della documentazione o le analisi di tipo geografico (la città di Roma, l’Italia, le province latinofone, le province grecofone), mentre gli approcci tematici porteranno a delle messe a punto solidamente appoggiate a delle situazioni documentarie aggiornate.
Sono queste alcune delle ragioni per le quali questo gruppo di lavoro vuole riunire in una rete sia gli specialisti delle donne e/o della famiglia nel mondo romano sia gli specialisti degli ambiti tecnici necessari a un approccio consapevole della storia delle donne e della famiglia, ponendo la documentazione al centro delle ricerche collettive.

Il gruppo di ricerca dovrà lavorare sui seguenti argomenti:

Il ricorso alle discipline tecniche, con il metodo dello spoglio dei documenti, potrà, almeno, sfociare in progetti collettivi di prosopografia, di raccolte tematiche, di data-base in rete. Alcuni di questi progetti sono già attivi e contribuiscono ad arricchire il gruppo GIEFFRA.
Finalità :
La messa in rete di un gruppo di studiosi del mondo romano permetterà di scambiare agevolmente le informazioni (grazie a un sito web attualmente in corso di allestimento), di elaborare ulteriori progetti che potranno essere resi comuni e di far convergere gli sforzi delle ricerche comuni sulla storia delle donne e della famiglia nel mondo romano, tenendo conto della specificità di questo ambito storico, che sarà necessario ricollocare nell’originalità della romanità, delle sue tradizioni giuridiche, religiose e sociali –basando tutto ciò sui documenti.
Comitato pilota :
I quattro promotori di questo gruppo specificamente romanista, Francesca Cenerini (Bologna), François Chausson (Paris-1), Isabelle Cogitore (Grenoble), Francesca Rohr (Venezia) appoggeranno i loro progetti a una serie d’infrastrutture nelle loro rispettive università (allestimento di un sito web) e a dei finanziamenti, in parallelo con altri progetti.
Prossimi obiettivi :
Il gruppo ha programmato, a partire dall’anno 2014, una serie di incontri internazionali, di cui verrà data notizia prossimamente. Tra i temi che saranno affrontati nei prossimi incontri, figurano «le donne dell’ordine senatorio, epoca repubblicana/epoca imperiale», «l’onomastica femminile nell’impero romano», «donne e religione nel mondo romano», «famiglia e religione nel mondo romano». Una prima tavola rotonda si svolgerà nel gennaio 2014 a Grenoble su «donne influenti a Roma, dalla fine della repubblica ai Severi».
Un sito web, localizzato a Venezia, in corso di realizzazione, permetterà di raccogliere la bibliografia e l’aggiornamento degli avvenimenti, riunendo così una documentazione di facile consultazione sulle donne e la famiglia nel mondo romano.

International Group of Studies on Women and the Family in ancient Rome
This network, at first informal, aims to bring together Roman scholars that are experts in different technical disciplines (epigraphers, jurists, papyrologists, numismatists, archaeologists, art historians, philologists, etc). The purpose is working with a documentary approach on the study of Women and Family in the Roman world (from the Republican period to Late Antiquity, in Italy and in the provinces).
In fact, only through the technical knowledge of certain, less exploited, types of sources it is possible to renew the present study on the Roman family, the political and social ties of kinship, the presence of women in political, dynastic, legal, family, religious and social life. A group of specialists provided with technical expertise allows the formation of several dossiers, thought to be collected in monographic or thematic projects. Some projects will allow the examination and analysis of the evidence on a large scale, by geographical area (Rome, Italy, the Latin speaking provinces, the Greek speaking provinces). Moreover, the thematic approaches will lead to the revision and update of the evidence known so far.
These are some of the reasons this team wants to bring together a network of specialists both in women and / or family in the Roman world and the specialists of the technical areas; these experts are necessary for a more complete knowledge of the history of women and family, without losing of sight the documentation as basis of the collective research.

The use of technical disciplines, along with the examination of the evidence, may result in collective projects of prosopography, thematic collections and online databases. Some of these projects are already active and contribute to enrich the group GIEFFRA.
Purpose :
The network of a group of scholars of the Roman World will have the following advantages: it will allow scholars to exchange information easily (thanks to a website currently under construction), to develop further projects that can be made common and to converge the results of the research on the history of women and the family. So it is important to take into account the specificity of this historical field, which must be brought back to its origins, namely to the concept of Romanity, as well as to its legal, religious and social traditions, by basing everything on the evidence.
Leading committee :
The four promoters of this group, who are specialists in Roman History, Francesca Cenerini (Bologna), François Chausson (Paris-1), Isabelle Cogitore (Grenoble), Francesca Rohr (Venice) will be supported in the success of their projects by a series of infrastructures available in their respective universities and by some funding used for the preparation of a website together with other projects.
Next goals :
The group has planned, starting from 2014, a series of international meetings, which will be announced shortly. Among the issues to be discussed in the next meetings there are the following: "Women of the senatorial order. The Republican / Imperial age," "Female onomastic system in the Roman Empire", "Women and religion in the Roman World" and "Family and Religion in the Roman world". The first roundtable discussion will be held in January 2014 in Grenoble on "Influential Women in Rome at the end of the republican period to the age of the Severi."
A website, located in Venice and still in progress, will collect the bibliography and will update participants about the events, so as to provide them with user-friendly documentation on women and family in the Roman world.

Grupo internacional de estudios sobre las mujeres y la familia en la Roma antigua
Esta red, informal en su fase inicial, tiene como objeto reunir a especialistas de la Antigüedad romana en varias disciplinas técnicas (epigrafía, derecho, papirología, numismática, arqueología, historia del arte, filología) para estudiar con enfoques documentales a las mujeres y a la familia en el mundo romano (desde la época republicana hasta la Antigüedad tardía, en Italia y en las provincias).
En efecto, es a través del conocimiento técnico de cierto tipo de fuentes, menos aprovechadas, que se puede renovar el estado de la cuestión sobre la familia romana, las implicaciones políticas y sociales de la parentela, el papel de las mujeres en la historia política, dinástica, jurídica, familiar, religiosa y social. Un grupo de especialistas con competencias técnicas permite, en el marco de proyectos colectivos monográficos o temáticos, la constitución de dossiers documentales variados : algunos proyectos permitirán, a gran escala, exámenes de fuentes o investigaciones geográficas (Ciudad de Roma, Italia, provincias de habla latina, provincias de habla griega), mientras enfoques temáticos proporcionarán balances apoyados en estados documentales actualizados.
Éstas son las razones por qué este grupo quiere reunir en una red a la vez los especialistas de las mujeres y/o de la familia en el mundo romano y los especialistas de ámbitos técnicos, necesarios a un enfoque pertinente de la historia de las mujeres y de la familia, colocando el documento en el centro de los estudios colectivos.

El recurso a las disciplinas técnicas, a través de exámenes documentales, podrá desembocar, llegado el caso, en proyectos colectivos de prosopografía, de selecciones temáticas, de bases de datos en internet. Algunos proyectos ya existen y contribuyen a enriquecer el grupo GIEFRA.
Propósito :
La creación de una red de especialistas de la Antigüedad romana debería permitir fácilmente el intercambio de informaciones (gracias a un sitio web en construcción), elaborar posteriormente proyectos que podrían ser puestos en común y hacer converger los esfuerzos de investigación comunes sobre la historia de las mujeres y de la familia en el mundo romano, teniendo en cuenta la especificidad de esta historia que conviene colocar en la originalidad de la romanidad, de sus tradiciones jurídicas, religiosas y sociales – siempre con el apoyo en los documentos.

Próximos objetivos :
El grupo ha programado, a partir del 2014, una serie de encuentros internacionales cuya publicidad será difundida próximamente. Entre los temas abordados en los próximos encuentros, figuran « las mujeres del orden senatorial, época republicana / época imperial », « la onomástica femenina en el Imperio romano, « mujeres y religión en el mundo romano », « familia y religión en el mundo romano ». Una primera mesa redonda se celebrará en Grenoble en Enero del 2014 sobre « las mujeres de influencia en Roma, desde el final de la República hasta los Severos ».

Internationale Forschungsgruppe für Frauen und Familie im Alten Rom
Dieses bisher informelle Netzwerk hat es zum Ziel, Spezialisten der altrömischen Welt mit verschiedenen technischen Kompetenzen (Epigraphik, Recht, Papyrologie, Numismatik, Archäologie, Kunstgeschichte, Philologie) zusammen zu bringen, um gemeinsam an Urkunden über Frauen und Familie in der römischen Welt zu arbeiten (von der Zeit der Römischen Republik und bis zur Spätantike - in Italien wie auch in den Provinzen).
Der aktuelle Forschungsstand über die römische Familie, die politischen und sozialen Aspekten der Verwandtschaft, den Platz der Frauen in der politischen, dynastischen, rechtlichen, familialen, religiösen und sozialen Geschichte ist nämlich nur mit einer technischen Kenntnis gewisser Materialtypen zu erneuern.
Eine solche Spezialistengruppe mit technischen Kompetenzen erlaubt es, im Rahmen mehrerer monographischer oder gemeinsamer thematischer Projekte, die Schaffung verschiedener (Text) Korpora: einige dieser Projekte sollen dazu führen, geographische Untersuchungen in grösserem Massstab (die Stadt Rom, Italien, lateinischsprachige bzw. griechischsprachige Provinzen) durchzuführen, während thematischere Arbeiten es erlauben sollen, auf die Urkunden beruhenden Aktualisierungen zu machen.
Dies alles sind Gründe, weshalb diese Gruppe in einem Netzwerk Spezialisten der Frauen und/oder der Familie in der römischen Welt und Spezialisten der jeweiligen technisch wichtigen Bereiche versammeln will, und damit die Urkunden als Kern ihrer Arbeiten einsetzen will.

Die Arbeit in den technischen Fächern kann gegebenenfalls zu gemeinsamen prosopographischen Projekten führen, wie auch zur Schaffung von Online-Datenbanken. Einige dieser Projekte existieren schon und tragen dazu bei, die Arbeiten der GIEFFRA-Gruppe zu bereichern.
Ziel des Projektes :
Die Zusammenarbeit von Spezialisten der römischen Welt in einem Netzwerk wird es erlauben, dass sie Informationen austauschen (mithilfe einer sich im Moment entwickelnden Webseite), dass ihre Forschungen über Frauen und Familie zusammenführen, und dass sie später weitere Projekte gemeinsam aufbauen. Dies alles, ohne aus den Augen zu verlieren, dass diese Geschichte in den spezifischen Kontext der Romanitas (Recht, Religion, Gesellschaft) wiedergestellt werden muss.
Führung/Steuerung :
Die vier Förderer dieser Gruppe, alle Spezialisten der altrömischen Welt, Francesca Cenerini (Bologna), François Chausson (Paris-1), Isabelle Cogitore (Grenoble), Francesca Rohr (Venedig), werden ihr gemeinsames Projekt durch verschiedene Angebote ihrer jeweiligen Universitäten (z. B. Erstellung einer Homepage) sowie finanzielle Hilfen unterstützen.
Zukünftige Ziele :
Die Gruppe hat mehrere internationale Termine ab 2014 geplant. Nähere Informationen zu diesen Terminen werden demnächst bekannt gegeben. Unter den Themen, die während der nächsten Termine behandelt werden, finden sich beispielsweise « Die Frauen im Senatorenstand (Republik/Kaiserzeit) », « Onomastik der Frauen im römischen Kaiserreich », « Frauen und Religion in der römischen Welt », « Familie und Religion in der römischen Welt ».
Ein erster runder Tisch über « Einflussreiche Frauen in Rom, von den republikanischen Zeiten bis zu den Severen » wird im Januar 2014 in Grenoble stattfinden.
Eine in Venedig basierte, zurzeit sich noch entwickelnde Homepage, wird es erlauben, Literatur und aktuelle Ereignisse publik zu machen, und den Zugang zur Dokumentation über Frauen und Familie in der altrömischen Welt zu vereinfachen.
